Centre for Gandhian Studies

To inculcate the Gandhian values and impart his approaches and strategies two
programmes at the Certificate and Diploma levels and two Foundation Courses will be offered.
These programmes will have three courses at the Certificate level and four courses at the
Diploma level. The main objectives of these courses are to introduce students about Gandhiji's
life in holistic perspective and his views and approaches towards the issues and development of
the society, nation and women in particular. The courses will help students to understand the
importance and relevance of Gandhiji's thoughts, works and experiments at different levels and
motivate them to imbibe and imitate the right values, approaches and responsibilities towards
individual, social and corporate life and relationship. Students will have exposure about
Gandhiji's life and struggles in India and abroad and his unique contribution to society and world
at large. His exemplary life, emancipating works and unbridle and rightful
thoughts guide not only the present day generation but also the future.. Hence it becomes
imperative on the part of higher education institutions to help students to have right
understanding about the life and works of Gandhiji' and his thoughts and deeds through
education to liberate themselves from the shackles of new- age faiths, life styles, culture and
direct and structural violence.

Programme Outcome

By the end of the course, learners will understand core Gandhian principles such as truth, non-violence, self-discipline, and social responsibility, and apply them to contemporary personal, social, and global issues. Students will develop ethical reasoning, empathetic leadership, and a commitment to sustainable and inclusive living, becoming socially conscious individuals ready to contribute positively to society.

To analyze and interpret the relevance of Gandhian thought.
