Mother Teresa Women’s University is a state supported, exclusively established for women by the former Chief Minister Dr.M.G.Ramachandran in 1984. As a Women’s Institution, the University’s foremost commitment is to meet the educational needs of the state and particularly the rural, hilly area. Valuing a diverse enrolment, it also welcomes students from throughout the state and other countries. Empowering women is the vision of this University, where Women Empowerment refers to the creation of an environment for women where they can make decisions of their own, for their personal benefits as well as for the society. It increases and improves the social, economic, political and legal strength of the women, to ensure equal-right to women, and to make them confident enough to claim their rights. Empowering Women to participate fully in economic life in all sectors is essential to build stronger economics, achieve internationally agreed goals for development and sustainability, and improve the quality of life for women. This is achieved through higher education.
